HI!

HI!
Hi, I'm Ashleigh! Just call me Ash. I'm a frugal fashionista with a very relaxed dress code, so I am all about "real wear" #ootd's. Come see how you can dress chic on the cheap, and maybe hear a bit about my day-to-day life, my kids, Lou and Logo, also my cat Zoey and my dog Parker! Thanks for stopping by!

I posted this outfit on Instagram (@thestylizedwannabe if you wanna follow!) a few weeks ago and decided to recreate it for the blog so you could see just how darling it is. The black dress is one of my favorites, and I find the length and fit very flattering on my curvy frame and short height.

I accessorized with my leopard print belt, coral beaded necklace, contrasting bangle, nude crocheted flats, and my thrifted clutch. I also rocked a side braid and tiny little tree earrings.
This is the comfiest dress. And even though it's a mini, it's not scandalously short since I paired it with flats.

DO YOU EVER SAY F*^%# THE NAYSAYERS AND WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?
DRESS: FOREVER 21
FLATS: JC PENNY
NECKLACE: BODY CENTRAL
BANGLE: FOREVER 21
CLUTCH: THRIFTED/GOODWILL

Stripes and polka dots

This dress is short, sassy, and the neon stripes make it quite trendy too! I always wear this dress with my polka dot heels. Every single time. My Mom tried to talk me into neutral flats since the dress is so short and loud, but I wasn't having any of that.
I paired my striped dress with my polka dot heels as mentioned, my turquoise bubble necklace, and a straw clutch for a summery touch.

I love the fun neon stripes and that I got a bit of pattern mixing in too!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE TREND THIS SUMMER? I'M LOVING THE NEON!

Windswept Van Gogh Dress

The print on this dress merely reminds me of the colors in the painting "Starry Night." It's not actually printed on the dress. Too bad. That would be awesome.
Taking these pics was a blast. This hem dips low in the front and back but comes quite high on the sides. The winds kept sweeping it up, trying to show the world my goodies. I won though.
Me-1, wind-0.
It's so silky and flowy and free. I rather think my bloggy buddy Kacie would wear this as well, just in her own bohemian Indian Princess way. I accessorized with strappy black sandals and silver-and-orange geometric earrings, to compliment the blues and greens in the dress.
See my sexy shoes?
I felt beautiful wearing this on date night with the Hubby. FYI he picked it out and bought it for me a couple of years back at the local fair where they were selling handmade clothing items. This dress plus these shoes gives me legs for miles!

Purple Water Color Dress

LOVE this dress! I love the fairy hem, I love the cris-cross straps in the back, the pretty shades of purple. All of it. However, since I lost weight the bust is two inches too big, and last year it fit perfectly! I rigged it with a pin and wore it anyway.
I accessorized with my metallic flats and silver leaf earrings.
It not only has a fairy hem, the hem is high-low as well. Trendy!
I love this dress. It makes me feel girlie and flirty, pretty and unique. And it's flattering for my height and figure as well! I could not as for more.

My Maxi

I didn't hop on the maxi band wagon till just last summer. Why? I'm 5'2" and curvy. Too much fabric, too much emphasis on the wrong things...or so I thought. This is why I love fashion blogs1 Back when I was just reading blogs, I saw Katie of Hems For Her rock quite a few maxi dresses! If she was brave enough to try and looked smashing in the end, perhaps I could too!
I styled it with simple metallic flats, half up hair, and statement earrings the I regretfully do not have a close up of.
It was a very bright day but those are my silver flats.
This girl needs a tan! But here it is, proof you can be curvy, short, and wear the comfiest clothing around town, the maxi dress!

It Rained for 10 days.

I am seriously lacking content again, but it's because of the weather! I don't like taking outfit pics indoors, plus I've had nowhere to go since all it's done is rain, rain, rain. There was even a bit of flooding!
However, when your favorite sister has a babysitter for the evening and so do you, she invites you over to hang, AND you haven't seen her since May, plus she offers to cook, well...Ya gotta get outta the house! So I found my rain boots and took the plunge to the car to go see Stephanie. This is what I wore:
I'm not SUPER pleased with it, but it was raining and flooding. My boyfriend jeans are so big on my now that they aren't very flattering anymore. I do love my blue shirt with my yellow scarf and bright lippy and bag. Though none of it matches, somehow it all works!
My trusty Walmart rain boots!

I kept raising my eyebrow in the pictures. You can barely tell it's summer in these pics. I'm as white as a sheet!

To Style A Shirt Dress

On it's own, Roger hated this shirt dress. He said I look like I needed to be in the military because of the gold buttons and khaki green color. Fear not, dear Husband. It simply needed styled up a bit!
I love this shirt dress. It's the perfect thickness, the material is not too thin or thick, perfect length and color, and perfect length sleeves as well. It can be for summer, winter, fall. Flats, heels, boots. Endless possibilities! To make it less military I added accessories. Neon earrings, a vintage tassel necklace, a thin leopard belt, a large clutch, and killer heels. Bam! Less "marching in formation" and more "marching to the beat of my own drum!" Hahaha. I'm sorry. Sometimes I fancy myself clever.

P.S. This outfit is 80% thrifted!
What do you think of this short dress? How would you style it? I'm already thinking ahead to fall and planning it with boots and scarves!

Short Story

Hello all! Did you miss me? I have definitely missed posting, but as a good pal (and smart phone owner) I still managed to keep up with reading and commenting my friend's blogs, though I have been lacking posts for my own. If you miss me you can always catch me on Instagram @thestylizedwannabe. Be forewarned, you WILL see pics of my kids, my cat, my Husband, and random objects, as well as fashion. I do work besides blogging and can't be bothered to separate my personal account from The Stylized Wannabe's posts. Sorry!

To the outfit!
*You actually may have caught this one on Instagram*
Originally I was wearing a gold tassel necklace, however, after lunch I acquired this lovely, stunning coral and turquoise necklace. I switched out my jewelry, and added my new, vintage Dooney and Bourke bag to tie in the color. See how pretty it is? I couldn't resist wearing it home from the shop.

This stunner was a gift from Roger's Grandma. She was cleaning out her Aunt's house (Roger's Great-Great-Aunt) and found a treasure trove of vintage bags, porcelain dolls, and costume jewelry, which she kindly gifted to me (bags and jewelry) and London received some of the dolls.
I love the bright red color!

My awesome thrifted wedges. Goodwill never disappoints!
